Clean, always
Headings, lists, code, and tables render with clear, readable typography. No footer, no watermark, no branding stamped on your documents — ever. Just your Markdown, formatted.
Clean Markdown previews, right from the space bar.
Select any Markdown file in Finder and press space — MarkPeek renders it, formatted and clean, right in the Quick Look panel. Nothing to open, nothing to configure.
Coming soon to the Mac App Store
A Quick Look preview that respects your documents and your privacy.
Headings, lists, code, and tables render with clear, readable typography. No footer, no watermark, no branding stamped on your documents — ever. Just your Markdown, formatted.
MarkPeek works the moment you press space in Finder, on the desktop, or in the column-view preview pane. No app to open, no window to manage — it upgrades a gesture you already use.
No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no servers. MarkPeek reads only the file you’re previewing, makes no network requests, and nothing ever leaves your Mac.
The whole preview experience, at no cost.
Headings, paragraphs, bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, and links — all cleanly styled.
Ordered, unordered, and nested lists, plus GitHub-style task checkboxes that show what’s done at a glance.
Fenced code stays monospaced and readable, so snippets look the way you wrote them.
GitHub-Flavored Markdown tables render cleanly ruled and easy to scan.
Light and dark mode follow the system automatically, so previews always look at home in Finder.
Nothing runs in the background. MarkPeek only does its work when you press space, then gets out of the way.
One document, saved in every format MarkPeek previews.
Download the pack, unzip it, then select any file in Finder and press the space bar. With MarkPeek installed you’ll see the document rendered; without it, macOS shows plain text — so it’s an easy way to confirm the extension is working.
The pack covers
.md, .markdown, .mdown,
.mkd, .mkdn, .mdwn,
.mdtxt, .mdtext, plus R Markdown
(.rmd), Quarto (.qmd) and MDX
(.mdx). The last three render as Markdown —
their prose and structure display normally, while YAML headers,
code chunks and JSX components appear as plain text rather than
being run.
Native, sandboxed, and lightweight.
MarkPeek is a native macOS Quick Look extension built with SwiftUI
and Apple’s own swift-markdown parser. It runs in
the App Sandbox and reads only the document you preview — it
asks for no folder access and makes no network connections. It
requires macOS 26 or later.
