Download the pack, unzip it, then select any file in Finder and press the space bar. With MarkPeek installed you’ll see the document rendered; without it, macOS shows plain text — so it’s an easy way to confirm the extension is working.
The pack covers
.md, .markdown, .mdown,
.mkd, .mkdn, .mdwn,
.mdtxt, .mdtext, plus R Markdown
(.rmd), Quarto (.qmd) and MDX
(.mdx). The last three render as Markdown —
their prose and structure display normally, while YAML headers,
code chunks and JSX components appear as plain text rather than
being run.

MarkPeek is a native macOS Quick Look extension built with SwiftUI
and Apple’s own swift-markdown parser. It runs in
the App Sandbox and reads only the document you preview — it
asks for no folder access and makes no network connections. It
requires macOS 26 or later.
