This privacy policy applies specifically to the Page Journey app and takes precedence over the general CodeCraftedApps privacy policy for all matters related to this app. Where any difference exists between the two policies, this app-specific policy governs.

Page Journey ("the App") is developed and published by CodeCraftedApps. CodeCraftedApps ("CodeCraftedApps," "we," or "I") is one independent developer based in the United States. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how the App handles your information.

Overview

Page Journey is designed with a simple privacy principle: your reading lives in your own iCloud account, and we never see it. The App has no user accounts, no advertising, no analytics, no telemetry, and no third-party SDKs.

Data Collection

  • No Personal Data Collection by Us: We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. We have no servers.
  • No Accounts: Page Journey does not require or support user accounts. There is no sign-in.
  • No Analytics or Telemetry: The App does not include analytics SDKs, crash reporters, A/B testing tools, or any third-party telemetry.
  • No Advertising: The App displays no advertisements and shares no data with advertising networks.

Data You Enter

You enter information into Page Journey to build your library: series names, book titles, authors, narrators, release months, current-book markers, finished-month stamps, optional cover images you pick from your Photos, optional notes, and optional Audible ASIN values.

This data is stored on your device and synced through your own iCloud account if iCloud is enabled. It is never transmitted to CodeCraftedApps.

iCloud Sync (CloudKit)

  • Your Account, Not Ours: Sync uses Apple's CloudKit private database in your iCloud account. Your library is stored in your iCloud, encrypted and managed by Apple.
  • We Cannot Read Your Library: CodeCraftedApps has no access to the private database in your iCloud. We cannot see, recover, or share your data.
  • Turning sync off: If you sign out of iCloud on your device or turn off Page Journey under Settings › [your name] › iCloud, sync stops. The App continues to work locally.

Camera

If you tap Scan ISBN, the camera reads the barcode on your device. No images are saved or sent; only the ISBN goes to the lookups below.

Optional Apple Books Lookup

Page Journey includes an optional helper that searches Apple's public iTunes Search API (itunes.apple.com/search) for a book title and suggests a matching title and release month. This feature is opt-in: nothing is queried until you tap the lookup button. The query contains only the search term you type; no account, no identifier, no tracking ID is sent. When you add a book by ISBN, only the ISBN is sent to Apple's lookup endpoint (itunes.apple.com/lookup). When you tap “Check Now” or “Check All” on your watched authors, only each author's name is sent to the same iTunes Search API to look for new releases. Apple may log standard server data for the request — see Apple's Privacy Policy.

Open Library Lookup

When you add a book by ISBN, or when Apple Books doesn't show which series a book belongs to, Page Journey also asks the public Open Library API (openlibrary.org). Only the ISBN, or the book's title and author, is sent — no account, no identifier. Cover images for those books may be fetched from covers.openlibrary.org. Open Library is run by the Internet Archive; see openlibrary.org for its policies.

On-Device Intelligence

On devices with Apple Intelligence turned on, Page Journey can use the on-device model built into iOS to suggest tags, group an author's series under a shared universe, understand plain-language searches, write a spoiler-safe “story so far,” suggest what to read next, summarize search results, and pull books out of a list you paste in. Everything runs on your device: nothing about your library or your pasted text is sent to us, to Apple, or to any AI service. These are suggestions only — nothing is saved until you confirm it. You can turn the features off in Settings › Intelligence, and on devices without Apple Intelligence they simply don't appear.

Store Links (Apple Books, Audible, Amazon)

A book's detail page can link out to your preferred store, chosen in Settings › External Links: Apple Books, or Amazon (Audible for audiobooks, the Kindle Store for ebooks). If you add an Audible ASIN to a book, “Open in Audible” opens audible.com/pd/{ASIN}. These links only open when you tap them, and they hand the store a book's identifier or title and author — nothing else. The App never signs in to these stores, never reads anything from them, and sends them no data in the background. Once a store's app or website opens, that store's own privacy policy applies.

Photos Library Access

If you choose to add a cover image to a book, Page Journey uses PhotosUI to let you pick a photo. Only the photo you select is read; the App does not browse, index, or scan your Photos library.

Selected images are compressed locally on your device and stored as part of your CloudKit private record. They are not uploaded anywhere except your own iCloud.

Spotlight Search

When enabled (the default; toggle it in Settings › iOS Search), Page Journey adds your book and series titles to your device's on-device Spotlight index so they show up when you search from the Home Screen. That index stays on your device. Turning the toggle off removes every entry immediately.

Local Notifications

Page Journey may use local-only notifications to remind you about upcoming book releases. These notifications are scheduled by your device using the release month/year you entered. No background fetch, no push server, and no notification payload leaves your device.

Data Retention and Deletion

  • On Your Device: All library data is stored on your device and remains until you delete it or uninstall the App.
  • In iCloud: Data synced to your CloudKit private database remains in your iCloud account. You can delete it at any time within the App, or via iOS Settings › Apple ID › iCloud › Manage Account Storage.
  • Uninstalling: Removing the App removes local data from that device. Your iCloud copy persists unless you also delete it from iCloud storage.

Your Rights

  • Access: You can view all your data within the App at any time.
  • Correction: Edit any record directly in the App.
  • Deletion: Delete records, delete the App, or delete the App's iCloud data from iOS Settings.
  • Portability: Settings lets you export a full JSON backup or a CSV, and import either back.
  • Permission Control: You can revoke Photos or Camera access in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos (or Camera) › Page Journey.

Children's Privacy

Page Journey does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the App collects nothing about anyone, this applies to all users equally.
